Design Brief for teaching Aid - plan your practical before you make it.

Performance Assessment Sheet - Task 1
This is the assessment sheet for the practical. Here you self assess your performance and you can put evidence in the form of annotated photographs or recount of what you did.

Evaluation outlline

These are some support notes that describe foetal development. This is the basis of the information you will be communicating to the child through your teaching aid.

The following Document gives a very detailed description of pre natal development throughout the three stages and the three trimesters.

This document has detailed coloured diagrams of pre-natal development. Use the information in the document above to record the developmental milestones on the Pre natal Development worksheet

The next section will help you in your research for this task.

Area of study: the nature of childhood and the socialisation and development of children

Before you think about what you will do for this task you need to think about the child you are making it for. What are they like? How old are they? What can they do? You need to consider their development. The importance of putting the child at the centre of your decision is really paramount.

The Science of Early Childhood Development

Why it is REALLY important to look after a child's emotional and social well being and how it impacts on the future of the perso who the child will become.

Erik Eriksons 8 stages of psycho-social development gives us a framework for understanding the importance of emotional-social development and how it impacts our lives.

Now what about the developmental milestones? How do children develop? This summary will help you.

Assessment of student competencies

The Assessment of Student Competencies (ASC) is an on-entry screening assessment that enables the identification of students who may be at risk and who may require early intervention.
The ASC was developed to measure those outcomes considered critical for success in the formal academic years of schooling (from Year 1 onwards). The competencies identified are the minimum requirement for a child entering compulsory schooling in order for them to make progress in their learning
